Walking Hockey is exactly as the name suggests

You play Hockey, walking, not running. It’s designed to help people keep an active lifestyle regardless of age, health and ability.

Whether you’re new to the sport, just not played for a while or had to stop due to injuries or other reasons, Walking Hockey allows you to pick up a stick in a fun and relaxed environment with like-minded people.

Walking Hockey, more than a game!

As well as the many health benefits associated with most forms of physical activity; keeping fit and active, weight loss, preventing and managing many chronic illnesses, there are also numerous social benefits that come with playing Walking Hockey.

Taking time to socialise, meeting new and like minded people, building confidence and generally looking after your mental health are all part and parcel of taking part in this version of the game.

Don't just take our word for it...

John Inverdale

BBC broadcaster

It keeps your body active, but it is also good for your mind. It's also a good way to combat loneliness and isolation because there's a very sociable aspect to the sport.

Ann

Player

I was diagnosed with bone marrow cancer. I have come through chemo sessions and Walking Hockey is part of my recovery periods, to build up stamina and to get as fit as I can.

Becky McMahon

Coach

Hockey has had a huge impact on my life and I would highly recommend it to anyone. It's not just about the game, it's about the friendships, the skills, and the continuous learning.
